I first became interested in photography working at a camp in Southern Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo mountain range in the late 1990’s. I hiked with my camera every day off and shot mountain peaks, alpine lakes, and roaring creeks fed by the previous winter’s melting snow.
In 2001 when my first daughter was born, I had the epiphany that we (humans, that is) are an even greater expression of God’s creativity and wonder than virgin mountains, lakes and streams. And I picked the camera back up.
Dustin Baker Photography was born out of my passion for capturing glimpses of that creativity in the midst of everyday life–in my clients’ homes, where they play, in the places where they’re most at ease. It may be a living room, a neighborhood playground, or a favorite haunt, but never a rush-you-in-rush-you-out, canned studio setting. I want to capture natural light, natural emotion, natural moments. Raw life and real experience.
