These two dolls are the daughters of a good friend. It was cold and windy last Saturday, but we were able to steal a few shots before things devolved.

Back Yard Photo Shoot

Most people don’t consider their back yards a great place for family portraits. I’m no different (Better Homes and Gardens has not contacted me recently looking for feature ideas). But with the right focal length, aperture, and concentration on the subject, even a pedestrian back yard can be converted into an ideal studio setting. These were taken of my kiddos about 10 minutes before leaving for church on a Sunday afternoon because, well, everybody looked nice and we wanted to document the moment. These shots are now a lasting memory for the family.

Mr. Bright Eyes

It was a pleasure shooting this little guy…and that’s because he belongs to me. There were tons of bees buzzing in the heather behind him…it’s a good thing he didn’t catch any of them in his mouth. No saying “cheese” here. I think I told him to say “huh?”
